Why we choose Francisco Balagtas?

Francisco Balagtas is familiar to us; we know that he is the “Hari of Balagtasan”.  We already have a former knowledge about him and his works, because he was introduced to us when we were in second year high school when we studied Florante at Laura. Florante at Laura is one of his famous works. His works were often used in theaters for operas or dramatic role plays.

We choose Francisco Balagtas because Florante at Laura was our favorite Filipino course in high school. It was the most interesting for us, because the other three (Ibong Adarna, El Fili and Noli) was not taken up by one of our member.  Although, we do not know Francisco’s other works aside from Florante at Laura.
